Toowoomba boxer Chris George defends title in June.
EXCITING Toowoomba boxer Kris George will defend his WBA Oceania super lightweight title in front of home fans in June.
George, who is unbeaten after seven fights and boasts five KO victories, will take on a yet-to-be-named challenger at Rumours International on June 27 as part of the TGW and Smithy Bring the Big Fights 10 card.
He won the title in October last year and has not fought since due to a broken hand.
But George is excited about the opportunity to defend his belt in Toowoomba.
“The injury has been frustrating but it’s 110 per cent now so that’s the good thing,” George said.
“In my absence I watched all the fights on March 14 up here and I also travelled to Newcastle to watch Jack Asis beat Kye Mackenzie so that only further fuelled the fire for me.
“I can’t wait to get back into the ring and defend my WBA Oceania title and hopefully progress further up the rankings.”
Discussions are underway to secure George an opponent for the title defence
