Hammond Crowned New 147lb Champ

Cameron Hammond put on a clinical display last night at Suncorp Stadium which earned him the vacant WBA Oceania Welterweight crown against tough Venezuelan Frank Rojas. From the outset Hammond was too quick and methodical in his fight plan by beating the visitor to the punch and with great footwork. When Rojas did try to show some resistance, Hammond would come back use his counter punching skills to extinguish any advantage the South American would build. Credit must be given to his chin and heart but the scorecards really reflected how Hammond had total control on this fight by scores 100-90, 99-92 & 98-92.
